MS Mission Portland

Our MS mission trip to inner city Portland was a wonderful time! Lives were impacted, both those we ministered to, and ours! We served at Nightstrike, the homless ministry beneath the Burnside Bridge, as well as BTown Kids, a ministry to low income children and families. Thank you to those that prayed!

2. SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART

God is waiting for us when we come together in his name. Scripture tells us we really need the body of Christ. He wants us to experience what it means to be a part of his family. It's when we're together that we receive:

- Equipping from God's Word
- Encouragement from God's people
- Enjoyment of God's presence

When we're together, we get something we can't get when we're alone. We experience the "bigness" of God through fellowship, group celebration, corporate prayer, and seeing needs met. When God's family gathers, it's not to prove to the world Jesus is alive. Seekers and even skeptical unbelievers are always welcome, accepted, and loved, and we should be sensitive to their needs. But reaching others is not the number one reason we have "church."

The number one reason Christians gather as church is to experience God!

The question is not, "Does the world believe in God?" The real question is, "Do Christians really believe he's alive?" Do we believe that where two or more are gathered in his name, he's actually among us? Of course, God is everywhere, but he's not made known or experienced everywhere. His presence should be experienced when Christians come together.

6. POTENT QUOTABLES

"Absolutely nothing will revitalize a discouraged church faster than rediscovering it's purpose."
- Rick Warren

"The Church is the new creation, it is life and joy, it is the sacramental fellowship in which we share the ultimate purpose of God, made real for us now in our hearing the Word and sharing the Sacrament."
- Rowan D. Williams
