Worship Workshop


Why do we worship God? Why do we use music? It's something that we do every week during our meetings...so is there a reason?

If you are on the 180 worship team, would like to join, or even learn about why we worship, come to worship workshop. It doesn't cost a dime and it is next Monday, July 10, from 10am-12pm.

High School Rafting Trip

Letter from Jonathan

Jonathan, one of our Compassion children, wrote us a letter! Here it is:
Dear Sponsors First Baptist 180 Student Ministry,

Hi! I hope you be in good health. My name is Martha Laura and I am Jonathan's teacher. I am helping him to write this letter. Jonathan was very glad when he knew you were his sponsors. He is 6 years old and he is 3rd grade of Kindergarten. His teachers' name is Elsa. His Kindergarten's name is "Maria de Jesus Espinoza de Maciel." His mother's name is Flor de Maria Lopez Toledo and she is housekeeper. His stepfather's name is Martin Cruz Galvez. He is very happy because his mother is pregnant. His favorite color is the red and he loves the dogs. His favorite food is soup beans with cream and cheese. His best friends are: Martin, Keving, and Cesar. God bless you always. 3. SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART

Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

"Everybody Hurts." That's the title of an old R.E.M. song. If the band had been looking to do a theme album, they might have included tracks with titles such as "Everybody Fails," "Everybody Doubts," "Everybody Fears," and "Everybody Gives Up."

You'll notice the common word in all of those titles is everybody.

One of the worst things about struggling with your emotions is the loneliness it creates. You convince yourself that you are completely alone in your struggles. That no one else experiences the things you experience. That other people are too strong, too spiritually mature, or too together to ever be dragged down by the kind of emotions that plague you. But that's not true.

Every believer faces times when life seems overwhelming--even pointless. Times when you can't get excited about the thought of facing another day. Times when you wonder where you'll get the strength to carry on. That's why every believer clings equally hard to the promise of Lamentations 3:22-23.

One of God's greatest gifts to us is his daily gift of grace. Notice how his blessings are described: "new every morning." That means no matter how much of his grace and blessings you needed yesterday, there's a fresh, unlimited supply ready for you today. So it's safe to say your troubles will never outnumber his blessings. And because of God's unbelievable love for you, you never have to worry about your struggles overwhelming you. If you will ask him, he will give you the strength, motivation, and encouragement you need to make it through the day ahead--no matter what the day may bring.

Remember, this isn't about your strength--it's about God's. And his strength is constantly available to you. So what is there to worry about?
