2. SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART
THE VALLEY SO LOW
"It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." [Mark 9:22]
There are times when we have to live in the valley. Unfortunately, it seems like the higher our mountaintop experience, the lower we come down. The fact that we have been on top of the mountain makes the bottom of the valley that much harder. In the valley, life can be drab, cold, and humiliating to someone who professes belief and then must endure the barbs of those who haven't experienced the mountaintop. The valley is also the place we're most likely to get discouraged and lose faith. We want that mountaintop so badly, but we must remember there are things God wants to teach us that we need to learn in the valley. We must sometimes live in the valley, but we don't have to live in the valley. Get it?
OZ says: "It is in the sphere of humiliation that we find our true worth to God, that is where our faithfulness is revealed. Most of us can do things if we are always at the heroic pitch because of the natural selfishness of our hearts, but God wants us at the drab commonplace pitch, where we live in the valley according to our personal relationship to Him. Peter thought it would be a fine thing for them to remain on the mount, but Jesus Christ took the disciples down from the mount into the valley, the place where the meaning of the vision is explained."
JUST BETWEEN YOU AND GOD
You're going to need more strength and perseverance than you thought you would ever need. Don't feel bad for asking God for what you need--pray for as much as you can get.
